I was interested in designing multiple products based on one design for an online shop themed around tabletop role-playing games. I decided to make an original design featuring a depiction of a "Fireball" spell, a popular, well known option for characters to use in a popular TTRPG.
To create this design, I first did some brainstorming. What I wanted the design to be was a cool and intense depiction of the spell, but also be versatile enough to be used to create numerous products with the design. I also wanted to include a subtle nod to how table top role-playing games are played, by rolling dice to determine if characters succeed or fail the actions they are trying to take.
I drew the design myself in Clip Studio Paint.
Now that I had the design, I realized the three parts of the design that could be modular for use on different products are the text for "Fireball", the fireball itself, and the rest of the image. I experimented with the possibilities, and ended up with numerous products ranging from apparel, to phone cases, to home decor.
Photoshop was used to help design these products, and can be viewed on this ad below.
